…..And our season is well underway. It has been a delight to welcome returning guests from last year as well as welcome new people to our home. Most of March and April was kind to us and we had many sunny and dry days.
We had some distinguished guests at the beginning of May in the form of 6 “lads” with lovingly resotred Porsches. Sadly the weather turned dreich for them and they experienced the deights of a damp Skye and Lochalsh – they departed after three days and took the rain with them! They did manage to find one small window of sunshine though and were happy to pose!
Other “visitors” this spring have included a pair of Sea Eagles which sat opposite us for a good couple of hours – a treat indeed. We have been indundated with birds – teal, meganza, goosander, pochards, heron, oyster catchers – to name a few. “Eric” the otter has put in the occasional appearance, and I came face to face with him on a walk around the point at one low tide (why do I never have the camera at these moments). The latest Spring tides have bought a “swim by” of a seal – there are plenty in the main Loch but we don’t usually see them in our little bay.
So we are looking forward to the rest of the season, welcoming those visiting Skye and Lochalsh. Everythig has seemed to come to life virtually overnight – restaurants have reopened after a closed winter, Castles are buzzing with tourists, boat trips are running regularly, and those who enjoy the outdoor like are partaking in walking/kayaking/cycling with les chance of a downpour. Summer is just around the corner…
